Lagos Assembly, Ogun gov, visit Osinowo’s family

Some members of the Lagos State House of Assembly, led by the Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, and the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, on Sunday visited the family of the late Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District at the Senate, Adebayo Osinowo.

Our correspondents learnt that the groups visited Osinowo’s family house at Molipa, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.

Osinowo died on Monday, June 15, 2020, after a brief illness.

He served for four terms at the Lagos House of Assembly before his election to the Senate.

Obasa, while speaking to the family, lauded the deceased’s contributions to the growth of the Assembly.

The Speaker informed the family that the Assembly would hold a special parliamentary session to honour Osinowo on Tuesday, June 23.

The first son of the deceased, Dr Tunde Osinowo, who spoke for the family, thanked the Lagos Assembly for the visit.

He said their father had prepared them for his demise while alive, adding that it was hard for the family to cope with the reality of his sudden death.

Also, Governor Abiodun commiserated with the family of the late senator.

Abiodun, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, led the state delegation to Osinowo’s residence.

In a letter to the family, the governor said he received the news of the senator’s death with pain and grief.

“Posterity will accord him his due recognition for his legacies of service and forthrightness.

“Pepper (Osinowo) never forgot his roots, even as he served the nation in different capacities and locations. He was a worthy ambassador of Ogun State,” Abiodun added.
