Family petitions Ogun govt, IGP, others over alleged threat to life

The principal members of Adogun Atele family, Itele land have appealed to Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, State Security Services and Inspector General of Police (IGP) to come to their rescue over the destruction of their properties allegedly by Adewunmi Abiodun Odutala and Kehinde Odubade Atiku.

The family, in a petition jointly signed by a retired Assistant Comptroller of Customs, Fasanya Salami Agbaji and the Head of Adogun Atele family, Chief Taoreed Momodu Dada, lamented that there were persistent threats to the lives of Fasanya Agbaje Salami, Titilayo Fasanya and Sir Sunday Nnamdi Nwosu.

We call on the Governor of Ogun State, Attorney General of Ogun State, Commissioner for Local Government & Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Ogun State House of Assembly, Alake of Egbaland, Awujale of Ijebuland, Akarigbo of Remo, Olu of Ilaro, Olofin of Isheri, Ado/Odo/Ota Local Government, the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court that by virtue of the Supreme Court judgment in Arowolo Vs Olowookere (2011) 3 NWLR Pt 1278 Pg 280, Adogun Atele Family (comprising four branches of Osa, Imidawo, Ogunrounbi & Alagbeji) is the only family eligible to present candidate for the vacant stool of Onitele of Itele,’’ the statement added.

It warned the public not to buy land in Itele from Ogungbemi Alagbeji family or any person who had earlier bought from Ogungbemi Alagbeji and Odutala family, as the entire Itele land is a subject of litigation both at the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court in Appeal No. CA/I/367/2014-Oba Adewunmi Adeniji Odutala Vs Chief Taoridi Dada; Ca/I/19/2014- Mr. Saibu Olugbode & 2 Ors Vs Chief Taoridi Dada & Another & Ca/I/169/2013- Chief Samuel Olatunji Asorobi & Ors Vs Chief Taoreed Dada & Another.

The statement maintained that Wakilu Adele Arowolo, Afusatu Akapo, Monday Akapo, Mufuli Akapo, Kafaru Abimbola Akapo and Abosede Akapo are not the head or principal members of Adogun Atele, but only parading themselves as such in order to deceive the public. Members of the public are advised not to transact any business with them in the name of Adogun Atele Family.

The statement described them as dissidents in the family and that they do not have authority of the family to sell any portion of Itele land.

They stated that the head and principal members of the family that have the family authority to deal on the entire Itele land are: Chief Taoreed Momodu Dada (Head of Family), Pa Nurudeen Akanbi Alimi Akapo (Principal Member, Osa Branch), Mr. Sunday Mathew Taiwo Owotolu (Principal Member, Imidawo Branch) & Alhaji Monsuru Ashifatu Lemomu Yusuf (Principal Member, Alagbeji Branch)

The family added that in order to keep the management, control and administration of Adogun Atele Family land under a united family representative, the family has instituted a law suit against the dissidents in the family who are allegedly deceiving the public by parading themselves as representative of Adogun Atele.

“The ownership of the land is a subject of litigation in HCT/711/2019 pending before Justice Fabamwo of High Court 6, Ota, Ogun State and whoever bought any portion of the land at No. 13, 15 Isiaka Oseni Street, 1, River Jordan and 15, 17 & 19 Yusuf Ibadan Street, Aiyetoro-Itele from Adewunmi Abiodun Odutala and Kehinde Adekunle Odubade should apply to the court to join the suit in order to protect their defective title.”

The statement warned the occupiers of No. 29, 31 & 33 Wisdom Street, Ayetoro-Itele, Awori via Ota, Ogun State of their defective title acquired from Adewunmi Abiodun Odutala, the adjudged customary tenant at Aiyetoro-Itele, via Ota, Ogun State.

The family further warned that “one plot of land known as No. 4, Owofunmi Street, Aiyetoro-Itele, Awori, via Ota, Ogun State belongs to Mr. Adelaja Akanni Akapo and the demolition and sale of the property by Adewunmi Abiodun Odutala and Kehinde Odubade Atiku are subject of litigation in Suit HCT/875/2017.
